My Parents are Cooler Than Your Parents

So his little shirt says "my parents are cooler than yours" and by looking at D's hair I am inclined to agree!

So I had the time (sort of) to squeeze in some last minute sessions before Christmas hits like a load of bricks. I am in love with C's family, they are all so beautiful! I love how they interact with eachother at every shoot and are not afraid to try things when I ask, even if they think I am a tad daft at times!

As the weather gets colder and I can't hang around outside what is a girl to do but create her own fun? I have been dying to photograph my friend A's tatoos so I called her up the other day and invited her to strip for me and let me photograph her. So she came over and this is the fun we had. I wish I could find my old peircer Jen! Her daughter is about the same age as mine, but Jen had such wicked tatoos (full sleeves) and I would really like to do some tatoo'd mommies and kids portraits! So if you are in the area and you know Jen get her to contact me! Also if you are in the area (Edmonton) and you have tatoos and kids call me or email me and I will do a session for you at half price!

Anyhow the bees have landed, but I have no clue how to use them. I need to advertise and get myself out there because I need to start paying for all I buy.

So weddings have been appealing to me lately. I have talked to my friend, wedding photographer Leighsa Smith and i think we might team up to shoot weddings. This is my dream, I will get to share in other peoples love (and hopefully get to express my creative side).

We will end with a picture of me, for a good laugh!

Sweet baby A

So I had the honour of photographing the newborn of one of my friends and maternity clients, baby "A". She was determined not to sleep a wink even though she is only 8 days old. I tried all my tricks (which are considerable because of my other life as a NICU nurse) but she was having none of it. Well we missed a few sweet shots because of the lack of sleep but her photos are beautiful anyways. They are only so little for a shot while. I will love watching you grow up baby "A".

Christmas cookies and snow

So we spent the day yesterday making christmas cookies. I know what you are thinking, "wow that is early for christmas cookies"! The reality is that if we don't make them now Santa might be munchin' on carrots with the reindeer, because I will get WAY too busy for baking soon. So My mom, Devlynn and I threw together ginger snaps, shortbread and made sugar cookie dough, while Keaton distroyed the kitchen. I will freeze most of them and pull them out at christmas time.

Yesterday seemed fitting for baking though, because we got our blanket of snow. We probably have a good 3-4 inches out there right now (or at least that is what it feels like when I shovel). Devlynn woke up this morning and goes my wishes were all answered, the ground is covered with snow, and all I thought was yikes I did not wish for snow last night.

Lastly My D

Bridal shower.

Last week I got invited to my friend's bridal shower. Super fun!!! We did all the fun bridal shower games and trank tea and ate cake. The kids were even good!












I got myself a new lens this week for when we jet off to the Dominican. I didn't have a telephoto lens and now I do. Of course the one I really wanted was $1700 way out of my price range, but the one I got is nice, for the day light.

Nicole bought me the new Killers B-sides album (thanks Nicole) and I have been listening to their cover of Romeo and Juliet over and over. The first time I heard that song was on Empire Records, you know the scene when they are cleaning the store and I remember Marc grabs the ballerina's foot and dusts it, and well my crush on AJ was officially over and my crush on nerdy Marc had begun. When I heard the Killers doing a cover on austin city limits I had to check my space for the track, bookmark the site and play it over and over, the Killers must have felt me and they put it on their B-sides yay!

So on the home front Keaton is walking (sorta)!

And on the photography front I have been busy making cards! Thank you Leighsa and Tina for you photo and border blends (in that order)!!!

My brain hurts

So I had a long day today, now everyone feel sorry for me, I met a friend for coffee today and picked up my family portraits then I headed north and met another friend and gave her the family portraits I did. Okay typing it makes it seem trivial, but really this took up my WHOLE day. So I come home to my messy house and a pile of school work I should have finished last week and here I am, my brain hurts! I guess the least I can do is post some pretty pictures before I go tackle the mess.

Okay the other reason my brain hurts is that I went to the gap today ( bad idea I know) and their new "stripy season" pictures all over make me want to do more studio work. That means I want to buy some studio lights and those don't come cheap, so I am sitting here trying to justify finishing buying what is in my cart on the alien bee website.

Everyone else has such lovley photography Blogs and I love reading them, but I swore I would not start one of my own! That is until now. I have to warn you, I can't spell, I am too busy and I really should be cleaning my house. Regardless I hope you all enjoy this glimpse into my life and work, because i know I enjoy my glimpse into yours!
